What is D_ART Teacher?
D_ART Teacher is aimed both at art teachers who studied at an academy and those who have graduated from a university.
For those who studied at an academy, the workshop is like coming back to their roots. For those from a different field, it is like taking a deep plunge into a lesser known world.
Through our workshop, we wish to give the participants an intensive insight into the HfBK Dresden with its artistic workshops and the different fields of artistic work. In addition to talks with professors and students, there are practical sessions in which the participating teachers are invited to create works of art themselves.
The background of this workshop is the D_ART Workshop, which is a student workshop that we have been conducting since 2012. This has resulted not only in a beautiful exchange with many students, but also in a vibrant network with many art educators who support their students with a lot of commitment. Such interactions have always indicated to us that numerous art educators desire more involvement in the art college system.
We develop the workshop programme in coordination with well-known teachers, lecturers of the D_ART Workshop (master class students and graduates of the HfBK Dresden) and our in-house professors.
The general part of the programme includes portfolio review: the differences and similarities between the artistic work of students are addressed when viewing and discussing about successful and unsuccessful application portfolios
. The aim is to have a productive discussion
about result-demanding versus open-ended practice, problems related to tasks and the development of one’s own artistic approaches.
There are four practical work options to choose from during the workshops. It is possible to choose between different disciplines as well. Since the number of participants per workshop is limited to eight, we always ask you to specify a second preference as well.
1. Theatrical Painting: 16-18.10.2019
The main theme is the artistic representation of plants on stage. The exhibition “Of Plants and People - A Stroll around our Green Planet” in the Deutsches Hygiene Museum Dresden (till April 2020) provides an occasion and a connecting point for this.
2. Animation: 16-18.10.2019
Moving images have become an indispensable part of our everyday lives – here, it is about the art of breathing life into drawings.
3. Stage Setting and Costume Design: 28 - 30.10.2019
Away from the screen! Instead, stages are designed, planned and models are built for an urban space. The resulting prototypes are captured from their best side in the model lighting system.
4. Fine Arts: 28 – 30.10.2019
The pedestal problem - from where should the sculpture start and where should it end? The playful examination of different (even everyday) materials should enable one to define the boundary and base of one’s sculptural form vis-à-vis the surrounding space.
Conditions: Participation in the workshop is a support measure for selected teachers and free of charge for them. A fee of EUR 30 is collected for a BERFORE_D_ART event.
Confirmation to participate implies participation in the entire programme.
