DAAD-Grants

Every year, the HfBK Dresden awards the DAAD Prize and scholarships to particularly qualified international students from the DAAD-funded STIBET programme.

DAAD-Prize

Every year, the HfBK Dresden can award the "DAAD Prize for Outstanding Achievements by International Students" in the amount of 1,000 euros. This prize is intended to honor an excellent international student or doctoral candidate who has distinguished himself or herself through special academic achievements as well as remarkable social or intercultural commitment.

The DAAD prize can only be awarded to foreign students who are enrolled at a German university (i.e. not exchange students). Students should be at an advanced stage of their diploma studies (at least 2nd year) or master's degree (at least 2nd semester), have good academic results and be socially committed. Doctoral students can also be nominated. Splitting the prize is only possible in exceptional cases (e.g. artist duo).

In the summer semester of each year, professors at the HfBK Dresden are invited to nominate outstanding international students enrolled at the university and invite them to submit an application. An interdisciplinary jury selects the winner from the submitted applications. The DAAD Prize for International Students is awarded annually at the opening of the annual exhibition

STIBET-Scholarships

As part of the STIBET program, scholarships are awarded to international students and doctoral candidates by the university.

Students on degree courses (diploma) as well as postgraduate courses (e.g. master students) and doctoral students can be supported.

Students must be enrolled on a regular course of study with the aim of obtaining one of the above-mentioned degrees. These grants are also awarded every summer semester. Applications are possible following proposals from professors. The announcement is also made each year at the annual exhibition.

Types of scholarships

Degree scholarships:

A prerequisite for funding is that the international students and doctoral candidates have performed well and are expected to successfully complete their studies within one year. Graduation scholarships are also intended to help international students and doctoral candidates who are in need through no fault of their own to concentrate on their studies and complete their degree.

Scholarships for particularly committed students and doctoral candidates:

A prerequisite for funding is that the international students and doctoral candidates have performed well, but have also distinguished themselves through outstanding commitment in an international context at their university.

Scholarship for More Equal Opportunities

For people with special challenges during their studies (e.g. refugees, people with disabilities or chronic illnesses, people with special care situations for children and those in need of care).

Note on combinability with other scholarships:

Students who have already received a STIBET scholarship (applies to graduation and engagement scholarships) can generally be funded a second time. However, if this does not take place immediately afterwards, students must go through the selection process again.
Funding following a Deutschlandstipendium (or any other scholarship) is also possible. If only partial scholarships are involved, students can also be funded simultaneously up to the maximum scholarship rate.
