Accident and health insurance

During their studies, students are insured against the consequences of an accident directly related to their studies. In principle, students must have health insurance.

Students who are co-insured by their parents or spouse under a family insurance policy (normally up to the age of 25) are not subject to compulsory self-insurance.

This does not apply to students who are married or have children if the spouse or children are not covered by health insurance.

An insurance certificate from a health insurance company must be presented at the time of registration and when changing the health insurance company.


Training assistance

If the prerequisites are met, students can receive a grant in accordance with the Bundesausbildungsförderungsgesetz (BAföG - Federal Training Assistance Act). Information is provided by the training assistance offices. Applications should be sent to:

Studying with a child

Short-Term Childcare at Campusnest – Flexible, Individual, Child-Friendly: Campusnest offers short-term childcare for children aged 9 weeks to 3 years – right on the campus of TU Dresden. Students and university staff from all Dresden universities can have their children looked after by the hour, for example, to attend lectures, work, or keep private appointments.

Childcare is provided in 2-hour time blocks.
There are two booking options:

  • Fixed Booking – regular care for the entire semester
  • Flexible Booking – short-term care depending on availability

“Campusbüro Uni mit Kind” is a competent contact point for many questions related to studying at the university with a child/with children.
In addition to providing counselling on the individual and institutional reconciliation between family and studies, it hosts various events, meetings and workshops, as well as counselling on studying abroad with a child.


Studentenwerk

Studentenwerk Dresden is a public institution. As such, it looks after  approx. 47,270 students from nine universities in Dresden, Zittau and Görlitz.

Its services range from student financing, meals in canteens and cafeterias and the provision of living space in hostels to cultural promotion, from daycare centre for students’ children to social, legal and psychotherapeutic counselling.


STUWERTINUM gallery

Students have the opportunity to exhibit their work. In collaboration with the cultural office of the Studentenwerk, works can be exhibited at the STUWERTINUM gallery. The cultural office organises an opening event with drinks, to which friends and fellow students of the exhibitor can be invited.
