Profile
The Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden is the only technical college for professions related to theatre setting (Scenic Painting, Theatre Sculpture, Costume Design, Make-Up) in Europe.
The technical college study programme has a history of more than thirty years. First, the study programme Stage Setting and Costume Design was instituted in the year 1950. Later in 1964, a technical college department for professions related to theatre setting was affiliated with the academy, which received technical college status in 1993. The course of study, originally of a duration of three, now four years, ends with a technical college diploma as designer in the respective field of study: Scenic Painting, Theatre Sculpture, Make-Up or Costume Design.
