Profile

Make-up artists are important artistic workers in the art departments of theatre, film and television. Their creative abilities, craftsmanship, creativity and empathy enable them to create convincing appearances of performers.

The aim of this course is to help students master diverse design tools, so that stage and media effective solutions can be developed on the basis of designs and figurines in cooperation with stage and costume designers. This requires flexibility and the ability to cooperate. Successful implementation of direction concepts requires make-up inventions, which facilitate the identification of the performer with his role.
As part of the teaching programme, students create their own designs and try using various design elements to complete an overall picture.
The development of a sense of colour and form is the basis for the stylistically confident development of tasks based on historical models and contemporary requirements. Specifically, the students are introduced to various make-up techniques, historical and modern hairstyling, wig concepts and various special effects.
Upon completing their studies, graduates can choose to work in the fields of theatre, films, television or any other media depending on their artistic and technical skills and genre-specific working method.
