Annual Exhibitions 2026

From 17 July 2026, the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts will open its doors across all its campuses and invite visitors to the highlights of the semester: the annual and graduation exhibitions as part of the 2026 exhibition tour. At 7 pm, the annual exhibition of Faculty I (Fine Art) on Pfotenhauerstraße will open with the presentation of the DAAD Prize for international students and the announcement of the Sibet grants.

Rundgang 2026 begins with a first look into the studios and exhibitions of the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts. Already in the afternoon, the first classes open their studios, before the Faculty I annual exhibition opens in the evening. Exhibitions, encounters, music and conversations invite you to experience Rundgang right from the start.

Friday, July 17

  • Weisse Gasse
    • 2.00 pm–6.30 pm | Preview - Class of Prof. Aladağ
      Even before the official opening of Rundgang, the class of Prof. Aladağ opens its rooms. The preview offers an opportunity to discover current works and talk with the students.
    • 2.00 pm–6.00 pm | Sculpture in Process: Come Hungry and Bring Some Dips – Eating from the Common Ground. 
      Performance by Hannah Doepke.
      An open project that combines artistic work with communal eating. Visitors are invited to become part of the event over bar & snacks.
  • Gewandhausstraße 2
    • 4.00 pm–6.30 pm | Preview - Class of Prof. Westphalen. 
      The class of Prof. Westphalen offers a first look at their current works and opens the exchange with visitors already before the official opening.
  • Pfotenhauerstraße 81/83
    • 7.00 pm | Opening of the Faculty I Annual Exhibition – Fine Arts
      The Faculty I annual exhibition opens with the presentation of the DAAD Prize for international students. Afterwards, the studios invite you to Open Studios as well as food and drinks in the outdoor area.
    • 8.00 pm, Seminar Room | Book Release & Exhibition »Dresden–Warszawa – Collective Diary«
      Lemon Press presents the publication on the Warsaw excursion of the orientation phases in Fine Arts as well as Stage and Costume Design.

      A musical reading of Dresden's most famous cityscape. Graphic score after Bernardo Bellotto for voice, flute, bagpipe, megaphone and playback. Concept and performance: Barnabas Jacob Herrmann.

      The project presentations follow the same program as the previous day.
    • 1.00 pm | Guided Tour Conservation/Restoration
      The tour offers insights into the conservation/restoration programs and their current work.

      The classes of Prof. Nicolai and Prof. Brandmeier invite you to an open afternoon and evening program with concerts and performances. The format creates space for encounters and artistic exchange in the courtyard and the courtyard studio of the Brühlsche Terrasse.

      The class of Prof. Westphalen invites you to a live screen printing session with sales. Visitors can follow the printing process and purchase prints directly on site.
    • 5.00 pm, Courtyard | Diploma Ceremony Fine Arts
      The graduates of Faculty I receive their diplomas in a formal ceremony.
    • 7.00 pm, Octagon | Opening of the Diploma Exhibition
      The diploma exhibition is officially opened with welcoming remarks by Rector Prof. Oliver Kossack, greetings from State Secretary Prof. Dr. Heike Graßmann of the SMWKT, an introduction to the exhibition by curator Susanne Greinke, and the presentation of the Diploma Prize. Afterwards, Open Studios as well as food and drinks in the courtyard of the Brühlsche Terrasse invite you to get to know the works and meet the students and graduates 
    • 7.30 pm–9.00 pm | Screen Printing Event - Live Evening Sale
      The live printing and sale continue into the evening.
