Ralf Kerbach was born in Dresden and studied for two years at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts under Gerhard Kettner until his participation in the "Door Exhibition" at the Leonhardi Museum in Dresden forced him to abandon his studies. He then worked as a freelance artist and left the GDR in 1982. In 1992, he took up a professorship in painting at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts and influenced entire generations of students with his teaching. Ralf Kerbach lives and works near Dresden.
The Academy is honoring his teaching with an exhibition in the Oktogon, the Kunsthalle of the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts. A selection of his paintings and graphic works will be shown, as well as a video created in the 1980s with Conni Schleime.
The exhibition will be complemented by works by several of his master students.
