On the 24th of July 2020 the European commission announced that the first 17 alliances of European universities, which were selected within the scope of Erasmus+ will each recieve an ancillary support of 2 million from the EU program Horizon 2020.
“By the additional support of Horizon 2020 for the pilot project ‘Erasmus+ European Universities’ we are strengthening the synergies between educational, research and innovation politics, and are helping the universities to create a greater critical mass in order to find solutions and educate talents, that are able to solve the major social challenges.“ (Mariya Gabriel, commissioner for innovation, research, culture, education and youth)
Since November 2019, the Academy of Fine Arts Dresden is part of the European university alliance EU4ART. Together with the Art schools in Budapest, Rome and Riga, Dresden is developing a joint curriculum for an international degree in Fine Arts and establishing a network of artistic workshops.
The additional application by the EU4ART alliance for Horizon 2020 was filed in charge of HfBK Dresden, which is thereby taking the direction for the project.
With the financial support during the timespan of three years, particularly an international graduation offer for artists on the intersection between fine arts, research and sciences shall be developed. The start of the project is in February 2021.
