The first week is dedicated to a series of digital lectures. From very different perspectives, experts from various disciplines will examine the potential of craft practices in the context of contemporary art and artistic teaching at universities. Epistemological questions will be debated as well as the role of materials, craft processes and their significance for the artistic development of students. On November 26 and 27, the digital symposium "Museums and Universities of Diversity" of the Dresden State Art Collections will follow, focusing on "How do museums and art universities actively live and learn diversity?" The second week is dedicated to artistic practice in the workshops of the Dresden Academy of Art and the Dresden Graphic Workshop. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a workshop with artist Cornelia Renz on etching and a workshop with artist Jan Brokof on woodcut and block printing. Another one-day workshop led by Adrienne Goehler will address issues of artistic practice and sustainability.
The symposium is an event of the EU4ART alliance. This consists of the art academies in Budapest, Riga, Rome and Dresden. EU4ART is one of the 17 alliances that have come together for the first time to form so-called European universities. Since November 2019, the EU has been supporting their transnational activities with funds from the ERASMUS + program. The symposium is aimed at students and teachers of the four partner institutions and also seeks an exchange with other German and European art academies.
The symposium as well as the workshops are based on the current Covid-19 notifications, safety regulations as well as the hygiene and measures concept of the HfBK Dresden. The right to make changes is reserved.
