EU4Art

Successful launch of the project in Budapest

At the kick-off meeting on September 18 and 19, 2019 in Budapest, the partner art colleges from Budapest, Dresden, Riga and Rome met for the first time after the funding approval to discuss the next steps of the project. The official start of the project will be after an official ceremony in Brussels in November/December. EU4Art is a model alliance of four art universities in the new EU program "European University", which will receive funding of 5 million euros from Brussels for three years to develop new forms of cooperative teaching and study.

The universities will identify model overlaps in the teaching of visual arts, focusing primarily on the content and teaching methods in the artistic workshops. A curriculum is to link the jointly identified teaching fields and approaches and allow students and teachers a high degree of flexibility in their studies. A dictionary of artistic production processes is to be compiled to help fill the still large gaps in linguistic understanding.

The graphic workshops of the state capital Dresden are involved in the project as external partners, making the decades of experience of this institution even more fruitful for both Dresden and international students and also teachers. New forms of mediation are also to be incorporated into the project by the Dresden State Art Collections in order to link institutional art history and contemporary artistic production in a practical way in joint workshops, conferences and presentations.
