For the exhibition "Vietnam. Art. GDR. Reclaiming Solidarity," the art collection of the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts provided six lithographs by the Vietnamese artist Trinh Kim Vinh on loan. These works were created during her time in Dresden, where she pursued artistic work as a visiting student at the Academy starting in 1971.
The exhibition explores the diverse artistic and social ties between Vietnam and the GDR. It focuses in particular on the concepts of international solidarity that shaped cultural exchange during the Vietnam War. Historical and contemporary artworks offer varied perspectives on political ideals, personal experiences, and the contradictions inherent in the relationships of that era.
