After some exhibitions of the past two years could only be experienced digitally and the opening ceremonies in particular had to be omitted, the HfBK Dresden is planning its diploma and annual exhibition including vernissage again in the usual tradition. In July and August 2022, results from the teaching of both faculties will be presented and diploma theses will be on display in various studios at the three university locations.
The fine arts diploma exhibition, which is presented in the Oktogon and the adjoining studios, combines a wide variety of positions and artistic media. The work of the 29 graduates in the fine arts course is supplemented by theses from the stage and costume design course.
In the fine arts, positions can be seen that examine being thrown back onto the immediate environment, the home and domestic activities. Architecture serves as an extended shell of the self, as a home and a mirror, or appears in the most profane form in the form of a hot dog stand. Individual works show us the immediate consequences of wars. On the other hand, there are dream sequences or paintings that spread across various carrier media. In other works, sounds become a visual element.
An interdisciplinary performance by students from both faculties will celebrate a cleansing ritual accompanied by sounds on the opening evening.
The young generation of artists approaches the complex issues of the current crisis with thoughtfulness, but also with humor and knowledge of the possibilities that still exist.
