Maja Drachsel and Dorothée Billard - three-part opening evening for the exhibition "I also have the moon

On Thursday, December 12, 2024, the Dresden University of Fine Arts invites you to a three-part event at the Oktogon, the art gallery of the HfBK Dresden.

As a supplement to the exhibition project: Existence Chapter 3: The Face of the Wanderer, which was shown from May 24 to June 23, 2024, at the Oktogon, the art gallery of the HfBK Dresden, as the university's contribution to the Friedrich Year, we have invited the Hungarian author and art theorist László F. Földényi.

17:00: László F. Földényi | Talk

On December 12, 2024, at 5 PM, the Hungarian author and art theorist László F. Földényi will speak about seeing from a historical and perceptual theoretical perspective. His lecture is a supplement to the exhibition: Existence Chapter 3: The Face of the Wanderer, which was shown in spring 2024 as the HfBK Dresden's contribution to the Friedrich Year.

About the person:

László F. Földényi, born in 1952 in Debrecen (Hungary), is one of the most significant Hungarian intellectuals and was a professor and head of the Department of Art Theory at the Academy of Theatre and Film, Budapest, until 2021. He is the editor of the collected works of Heinrich von Kleist in Hungarian and has been a member of the German Academy for Language and Literature since 2009. He was awarded the Leipzig Book Prize for European Understanding in 2020 for his book "In Praise of Melancholy. Enigmatic Messages." His recent publications include "The Painter and the Wanderer. Caspar David Friedrich's Proto-Cinema," Matthes & Seitz 2021, and "The Long Shadow of the Guillotine. Life Images from 19th Century Paris," Matthes & Seitz 2024.

Following the lecture, we will present the journal "Footnotes to the Landscape."

The publication appears as a "footnote" to the exhibition Existence Chapter 3: The Face of the Wanderer, which was shown from May 24 to June 23, 2024, at the Oktogon, Kunsthalle der HfBK Dresden, on the occasion of the 250th birthday of Caspar David Friedrich.

It contains text and image contributions on the landscape.


19:00: Mond hab ich auch | Exhibition Opening

At 7 PM, we will open the exhibition "I also have the moon" featuring works by Dorothée Billard and Maja Drachsel.

It continues the series of exhibitions showcasing the artistic work of faculty members of the HfBK Dresden.
