Graphic Workshop "Handmade Paper"
In the workshop "Handmade Paper" with the artist Fides Linien, basic knowledge was imparted on the subject of manual papermaking, material knowledge and tool skills, among other things. The preparation, manipulation and combination of pulp was a central process here. In the second half of the workshop, the students used the knowledge they had acquired to work independently with various materials. At the end, there was the opportunity to exhibit the resulting works collectively in the Brühl Gallery.
Graphic Workshop "Nude Drawing"
The workshop "Nude Drawing" took place under the guidance of the artist Sandor Doro. At the beginning the anatomical collection of the HfBK Dresden was visited to make first drawings. The course was continued and intensified in the "Aktsaal" - only a few drawing utensils were used: pencil, charcoal and paper. Towards the end of the course, there was a small round-up for all the other course participants.
Painting Workshop „Figure in Space – Painting Techniques as the Impetus for Visual Ex-pression”
In the first week of the course "Figure in Space", under the guidance of Maja Drachsel (painting technique) and Felix Lippmann (orientation phase), the first studies of figurative painting were tried out on large-format paper. With the help of life-size dolls, figurative situations were staged, which the course participants painted. The aim was to support the development of a pictorial space.
In the second week, the participants painted from a model. Different backgrounds and colors were used. In addition, the students were instructed to build and prime their canvases themselves. They also made their own casein tempera paints.
A visit to the Dresden State Art Collections was also on the agenda, in order to gain an insight into figurative painting and the associated handling of pictorial spaces in painting at the time.
Sculpture Workshop „Rooming“
The course "Rooming" under the guidance of the artist Christian Henkel was about contemporary sculpture: sculpture as well as object. Among other things, the course explored the question of how to use things in one's environment for art, for example. What role do space, material and color play in this? The focus in the workshop was on the individual work, as well as its placement in space. On the last day, the finished works could be viewed in the Weißen Gasse.
From Public Art to Art in Public Spaces
During the workshop phase, an art history seminar led by art historian Susanne Altmann entitled "From Public Art to Art in Public Spaces" took place. The seminar included two city walks.
