WANDA, THE VILLA AND CHANGE. The Dresden Gallerist and Art Mediator Claudia Reichardt

Exhibition Venue: Dresden City Archives
Duration: 8 September, 2026 – January 29, 2027

The exhibition “WANDA, THE VILLA AND CHANGE” at the Dresden City Archives honors the life and work of the Dresden gallerist and art mediator Claudia Reichardt (1959–2021), who was known throughout the art scene primarily by her artistic name Wanda. Drawing on her extensive estate, the exhibition traces the cultural and social transformations of the 1980s and 1990s and highlights Reichardt’s significance for Dresden’s artistic and cultural landscape.

For the exhibition, the Archives of the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts provided seven posters and additional archival materials on loan. The documents on display recall Reichardt’s time at the Academy, where she headed the student club “Wendel” between 1985 and 1991. Under her leadership, the club developed into an exceptionally popular meeting place for students, artists, and cultural practitioners, as well as an important venue for cultural exchange within the Academy.
