The Louisoder & Pfefferkorn Foundation connects established and contemporary positions in visual and performing arts through the KK5 Gallery. The focus is on modern interpretations and artistic engagements with the motifs of the Old Masters.
The opening exhibition Two LIVES for ART offers insights into the extensive work of the Leipzig artist brothers Axel and Peter Pfefferkorn.
Axel Pfefferkorn, a stage designer with over 40 years of experience, studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts. He presents designs, models, and drawings that formed the basis for numerous productions. His brother, Peter Pfefferkorn, a wood engraver and painter, studied at the Leipzig Academy of Visual Arts. His works, often exploring themes such as dance, theater, and religious motifs, reveal deeper layers of meaning through parables, allegories, and symbols.
The interplay of the brothers’ works creates a compelling dialogue between different artistic forms of expression, highlighting both their individual style and their shared passion for art.
For the exhibition, the custodians of the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts provided four stage design sketches from Axel Pfefferkorn’s student years on loan.
