The application for admission is to be submitted electronically to the HfBK Dresden by means of the electronically completed application form in the ► application portal of the HfBK Dresden before the respective deadline.
The application for admission must be accompanied by (upload in the application portal):
- a curriculum vitae in table form with detailed information on the educational path to date,
- copies of certificates of higher education entrance qualification* or copies of certificates or proof of admission in accordance with § 2 Para. 3 to 6 of the matriculation regulations
- Proof of practical training or work experience (proof of internship periods and work experience, no contracts)
- Proof of a certified copy of a certificate of successful completion of an artistic university degree or another university degree with a corresponding artistic orientation
- Proof of previous periods of study and academic or examination achievements
- Justification of your wish to study in the form of a letter of motivation of one DIN A4 page
The application form must also be submitted in printed and signed form ► by post within the specified application deadline.
*In lieu of proof of higher education entrance qualification, an interim report or a half-year information sheet may be submitted for application.

The electronically submitted application documents and original documents, e.g. certified copy of the higher education entrance qualification, proof of language proficiency in the case of international applicants, must be submitted ►by post in the case of admission.
The portfolio of work samples for the postgraduate course in Art Therapy should contain
- contain 15 own artistic works, or
- contain a catalog with illustrations of own artistic works as well as a sketchbook or two original work samples, or
- contain photographs of own artistic works and a sketchbook or two original work samples.
- the portfolio must be submitted in analog form (no rolls!) ► by post or in person
- Originals may only be submitted up to a size of DIN A1 and not rolled up
- a complete list of the work samples submitted, stating the dimensions and materials used, must be enclosed
- a signed declaration stating that the artwork was produced by the artist himself must be included.
Please note that a digital version of the portfolio must also be uploaded to the application portal.
In the pre-selection, the submitted artistic works and the justification of the applicant's wish to study are evaluated.
In order to pass the pre-selection, applicants must prove that their work samples reveal an independent artistic identity and authenticity as well as diversity and coherence in their working methods and that the reasons for their wish to study indicate an open, socially-oriented attitude.
Applicants have passed the pre-selection process if the majority of the examiners have awarded them a "pass" in the assessment of the work samples and the justification of their desire to train.
The aptitude test consists of
- a group workshop lasting 4 to 8 hours to test the basic competencies of therapeutic behavior, in particular verbal and visual communication skills and the ability to reflect, and
- a 10 to 20-minute aptitude interview to test the basic competencies of therapeutic behavior and the motivation of the applicant.
To pass the aptitude test, applicants must demonstrate basic competencies of therapeutic behavior in the workshop and aptitude interview, in particular self-reflection, objectivity, empathy, motivation to study and verbal and artistic communication skills.
The aptitude test has been passed if the majority of the examiners have awarded a "pass" in both the workshop and the aptitude interview.
Admission to studies is governed by the enrolment regulations of the Dresden University of Fine Arts. After passing the aptitude test, applicants receive admission to the Dresden University of Fine Arts. The result of the aptitude test is valid for enrolment in the winter semester following the aptitude test.
If the aptitude test is not passed, the applicant may reapply at the next deadline.
Admission to the Dresden University of Fine Arts is only possible in the winter semester. Admission is determined by the number of places available.

In order to enrol successfully, you must first accept the place. To do this, log in to the ► application portal with your access data and go to your application. There you will now find the "Accept place" button.
If you are not (yet) able to start your studies, you can also reject your place here.
Once you have accepted the place, you can enrol online at the start of the enrolment period. You will be asked for further information relevant to enrolment, such as health insurance details, and you can upload your passport photo for your student ID. Finally, you will receive information about the semester fee to be paid and can print out the enrollment application.
For enrollment, the documents submitted digitally so far and, if necessary, further proof must be submitted by post together with the signed enrollment application!
