The application for admission is to be submitted electronically to the HfBK Dresden by means of the electronically completed application form in the ► application portal of the HfBK Dresden before the respective deadline.
The application for admission must be accompanied by (upload in the application portal):
- a curriculum vitae in table form with detailed information on the educational path to date,
- copies of certificates of higher education entrance qualification* or copies of certificates or proof of admission in accordance with § 2 Para. 3 to 6 of the matriculation regulations
- Proof of practical training or work experience (proof of internship periods and work experience, no contracts)
- Proof of previous periods of study and academic or examination achievements
- Description of personal development and desire to study
*In lieu of proof of higher education entrance qualification, an interim report or a half-year information sheet may be submitted for application.

The electronically submitted application documents and original documents, e.g. certified copy of the higher education entrance qualification, proof of language proficiency in the case of international applicants, must be submitted ►by post in the case of admission.
The portfolio with work samples should
- contain approx. 25 artistic works
- The submission as a digital portfolio takes place via the ► application portal (upload):
- The digital portfolio must contain all work samples from the original analogue portfolio!
- Digital images of the artistic works in a merged PDF file with a total size of no more than 30 megabytes.
- optional: artistic works in digital form (e.g. video and sound works) with a total size of no more than 50 megabytes
- a complete list of the submitted work samples, each with details of the dimensions and materials used, in PDF format.
- a signed declaration that the artistic works were produced by the applicant.
The 6-week preparatory internship must be completed at a theatre. It is also possible to provide evidence of comparable practical work experience.
The six-week preparatory internship must be completed at the time of enrolment.
Confirmation of pre-study internship for the internship position
In the pre-selection phase, the submitted digital portfolio of artistic works will be evaluated.
The evaluation of the portfolio is based on
- the level of artistic ability
- the existing originality and
- the creative potential
as examination criteria. The pre-selection is passed if more than half of the examiners have given the portfolio a "pass" rating.
The aptitude test takes place digitally, i.e. not on site, and consists of
- an artistic examination, in which a given artistic task with a processing time of up to 8 hours is to be solved,
- a final interview, which focuses in particular on the applicant's motivation and the work they have produced
The welcome and final interview will take place via video conference. During the processing time, a consultation with the examination board is held via video conference.
In order to pass the aptitude test, the applicant must demonstrate
- his/her special artistic abilities,
- his or her perceptiveness,
- his/her communication skills,
- his artistic diversity of ideas,
- their basic technical knowledge and their reflection on the professional field
demonstrate artistic aptitude. The aptitude test has been passed by anyone who has achieved an average grade of better than 3.0 in the overall assessment of all examination results.
Admission to studies is governed by the enrolment regulations of the Dresden University of Fine Arts. After passing the aptitude test, applicants receive admission to the Dresden University of Fine Arts. The result of the aptitude test is valid for enrolment in the winter semester following the aptitude test and for the winter semester in the following calendar year.
If the aptitude test is not passed, the applicant may reapply at the next deadline.
Admission to the Dresden University of Fine Arts is only possible in the winter semester. Annual admission is determined by the number of places available.

In order to enrol successfully, you must first accept the place. To do this, log in to the ► application portal with your access data and go to your application. There you will now find the "Accept place" button.
If you are not (yet) able to start your studies, you can also defer or reject your place here.
Once you have accepted the place, you can enrol online at the start of the enrolment period. You will be asked for further information relevant to enrolment, such as health insurance details, and you can upload your passport photo for your student ID. Finally, you will receive information about the semester fee to be paid and can print out the enrollment application.
For enrollment, the documents submitted digitally so far and, if necessary, further proof must be submitted by post together with the signed enrollment application!
