Vocal and composition

Christa Abels studies singing and composition at the HfM Dresden and devotes herself to setting poems to music in her solo project. In her repertoire, you will find texts by Hilde Domin, Georg Trakl among others, as well as her own texts. At the piano, she lends a distinct sound to the words with her voice. This sound need not be categorised as the deepest darkness or the brightest light to give the listener goose bumps. She now wants to record and release these sound-artworks professionally.

Four female students from the HfBK Dresden have come together to form a “Patterned Collective” in order to research patterns, focusing both on the metaphorical dimension of the term and a common artistic practice, with the aim of producing prints, drafts and applications which will be sold on their website. An expedition to Amsterdam on the trail of special textiles and patterns as well as an exhibition are already being planned.

Art, culture, networking. For a week, the ROADS Festival turns the districts of Friedrichstadt and Löbtau in Dresden into one big neighbourhood. Residents, artists and cultural workers create a festival programme together and rediscover their neighbourhoods and the opportunities they offer. In addition to numerous concerts, exhibitions, workshops, lectures and urban safaris, the festival always explores the question – in what sort of city we would like to live together tomorrow. Kiez ist Happening!

Hankelmusik is a project of young musicians that breaks down the borders between genres. These musicians come from various backgrounds, whether classical, jazz, pop or dubstep – the list continues and aptly describes the wide variety of playing skills and influences that converge in this chamber ensemble. They play pieces that are composed especially for the musical character of the individual ensemble members. Having completed two years, hankelmusik now wants to take the next steps towards professionalism.

Mobile exhibition project by master class students from Dresden

MASTERKLASS is an exhibition project by artist and master class student Hannes Uhlenhaut. Together with master class students of the HfBK Dresden and guests from other universities, he would like to develop an exhibition series with a recognition value. The aim is to mutually benefit from existing networks and to be able to present the work of participants throughout Germany. He also wants to eliminate and further explore the distribution of roles between artists and curators.

Art book production

Since graduating from the HfBK Dresden, Verena Kogler has been working continuously on developing her micro-publishing company TAT Publishing. Here, she publishes and produces her own photo books and art books for collectives and artists in very small print runs of up to 20 editions. With newly established contacts and initial successes at exhibitions abroad, she now wants to expand the publishing house from the economic point of view as well. A website for presenting the editions will be her next step.

Jazz band that plays hip hop, rock and soul

Mozaik has five members who study together at the HfM Dresden. Their jazz sound is characterised by a variety of musical influences that they bring into the project. Be it hip hop, rock or soul-note, they are primarily committed to creating songs that people can dance to. Having established a harmonious musical base, they now want to venture into creating their first album for the public and to establish more connections. Collaboration for a music video could soon be the next step.

Music Academy

The young conductor Roman Baltag would like to organize a festival for music at Club Scheune as well as GEH8 - Kunstraum und Ateliers e.V. in May 2018 and invite top-class musicians from all over the world. An experiment with the aim of bringing great music into the Dresden club scene, in order to use the resulting synergies and tensions. The musicians will be allowed to play what and where they want - which will certainly lead to some unusual concerts.

Performative collaborative project

Caldera is a collaborative project with artists from Ukraine, Germany and the USA. In a collective process the participating artists trace current conflicts and crises to find moments of understanding and hope. At the end of this process an interdisciplinary performance will arise and unite performing and visual arts in a synthesis of the arts. The work will be first performed in Kiew and then go on tour through Europe.
