Marion Ermer Prize

With the Marion Ermer Prize, the Marion Ermer Stiftung zur Förderung von Kunst und Kultur (Marion Ermer Foundation for the Promotion of Art and Culture) in the new federal states has set itself the goal of promoting young art in these states (except Berlin). The prize is worth EUR 5,000.

The Marion Ermer Stiftung was founded in 1992 as the first private cultural foundation in the new federal states after reunification. With the institution of the Marion Ermer Prize in 2001, the foundation focuses on the promotion of young contemporary artists and, in the process, cooperates closely with various art colleges and art institutions in the new federal states.

The Marion Ermer Prize is intended for artists from the fields of painting, graphics, sculpture and other visual media. Applicants may not be older than 35 years and must have their primary or secondary residence in the new federal states (except Berlin) and have a degree from a state art college or a comparable institution in East Germany (except Berlin). Students who are still pursuing their diploma, or master class students at a state art college there, can also apply.
